Your suggestions for improvement:
A pacemaker, or cardiac stimulator is capable of reestablishing normal heart rate in the case of bradycardia. Correction of tachycardia requires implantation of a cardioverter-defibrillator.
ApplicationsThese devices deliver electrical impulses through electrodes to increase heart rate to normal levels. Certain defibrillators also have a pacemaker function, enabling them to treat both bradycardia and tachycardia.
TechnologiesThe electrodes enable the unit to analyze cardiac rhythm and transmit impulses in case of arrhythmia. Such devices can be implanted or external. There are single, dual and triple chamber versions, depending on the number of cardiac regions requiring stimulation. Non-magnetic models can be worn during MRI examinations.
