The Impella® 2.5 is the smallest heart pump in the world resulting in cardiology standard of care being improved.
It works by drawing blood from the left ventricle through the inlet area that’s close to the tip and then pushing the blood out from the catheter into the ascending aorta. It delivers 2.5 L/min of forward flow, directly unloading the ventricle. It is not dependent on timing or inotrope
It’s designed to be easy to use, with installation being done with a standard catheterization procedure with femoral artery entry into the ascending aorta, crossing the valve to the left ventricle.
Has 12 Fr micro-axial pump and 9 Fr Catheter.
