Description

Cemented Polyethylene Cups Flat-profile and full-profile cemented cups AESCULAP® cemented cups offer high material standards such as highly crosslinked polyethylene with vitamin E to address reduced wear rates and no oxidation. The articulation diameter ranges from 22.2 up to 36 mm. The cups are categorized into flat profile standard and full profile implants with and without snap-in mechanism. This variability supports the different fields of indications, patient groups as well as degree of stability. Flat profile PE cups made of Vitelene® or UHMWPE The cemented PE cups are available in 2 mm outer diameter steps from 40 to 64 mm with inner diameters of 22.2, 28, 32 or 36 mm. The outer surface of the PE cup is designed for cemented implantation. An x-ray marker along the equator of the cup is a reference for radiographic cup orientation. Vitelene® Vitelene® is a highly crosslinked polyethylene blended with vitamin E. The wear rate of Vitelene® is very low even after extreme artificial aging. The vitamin E concentration is still sufficient to eliminate oxidative reactions and therefore reduces wear throughout the whole lifespan of the total hip arthroplasty. Vitelene® needs no thermal treatment and has therefore balanced mechanical properties. It is characterized by wear and oxidation resistance. Full Profile Cemented polyethylene acetabular cups with and without snap-in mechanism. The inner diameter is 28 mm or 32 mm. The outer diameter varies from 46 to 62 mm.
