Hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) is caused by Enterovirus (EV) infection which occurs frequently in children under 5 years of age.
Hand, foot and mouth disease is caused by Enteroviruses, and the main pathogenic serotypes include Coxsackie virus (CV) group A4~7,9,10,16 and group Bl~3,5, serotypes of Echovirus, Enterovirus A71(EV-A71), etc. Among them, CV-A16 and EV-A71 are the most
common. In recent years, CV-A6 and CV-A10 have increased in some areas. There is no cross immunity between enterovirus types.
HFMD is a widespread infectious disease globally, large outbreaks occur often in some countries worldwide. Thousands of people
may get infected. Some people, particularly young children, may have severe diseases as viral or “aseptic” meningitis, neural pulmonary edema, myocarditis that requires hospitalization, or even causes death. Thus, early screeningand clinical diagnosis of
hand, foot and mouth disease are extremely important.
Intended Use
The kit is a TaqMan probe real-time fluorescent PCR kit to qualitatively detect enterovirus 71, Coxsackie virus A2, A4, A5, A6, A9, A10, A12, A16, B1, B3, B4, B5 and the nucleic acid of echovirus in human oropharyngeal swab.
The test results are for clinical reference only and cannot be used as a basis for confirming or eliminating cases.
