Intended Use:
This product is used for the in vitro quantification of free triiodothyronine (FT3) in human serum. Triiodothyronine (T3) is an important thyroid hormone that acts on various target organs, with a molecular weight of 651 and a plasma half-life of 1.5 days. It is 3-8 times more active than T4. T3 is the most biologically active thyroid hormone known, and in peripheral blood, 99.6% of T3 is transported by binding to serum transport proteins, while only 0.4% of T3 (FT3) is free, and only free T3 is metabolically active, while bound T3 is not. The major transport proteins in the body include: thyroxine-binding globulin (TBG), thyroxine-binding prealbumin and albumin. The concentration of FT3 in the body is not affected by the concentration of thyroid hormone-binding proteins and is a good indicator of the functional status of the thyroid gland and other effects on body functions. It is sensitive for the diagnosis of hyperthyroidism and is a specific indicator for the diagnosis of T3 hyperthyroidism. The TSH, FT3, and FT4 tests are often used clinically to identify hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism and to track the effectiveness of treatment.
