For the in vitro quantitative determination of lactate dehydrogenase activity in human serum. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE LDH is an enzyme that is found in highest concentration in the live, kidney, heart, erythrocytes and skeletal muscle. LDH measurements are used in the diagnosis and treatment of liver diseases such as acute viral hepatitis, cirrhosis, and metastatic carcinoma of the liver, cardiac diseases such as myocardial infarction and tumors of the lung or kidneys. Clinical diagnosis should not be made on the findings of o single test result, but should integrate both clinical and laboratory data. Principle: The rate of decrease in concentration of NADPH, measured photometrically, is proportional to the catalytic concentration of LDH present in the sample1. Precautions 1. For in vitro diagnostic use only. 2. DO NOT pipette by mouth. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. If spilt, thoroughly wash affected area with water. 3. Reagent contains Sodium Azide as a preservative. 4. Do not use the reagent after the expiration date printed on the kit. Reagent 1 contains Imidazole. Working solution by mixing 4 parts of Reagent 1 with 1 part of Reagent 2 (e.g., 20mL R 1 to 5mL R 2). REAGENT DETERIORATION The reagent should not be used if: 1. The initial absorbance of the reagent is less than 1.00 when read against water at 340 nm. 2. The reagent fails to meet stated parameters of performance.
