This is not a spécifie method, other structures such as collagen and muscle tissue might be stained. Therefore, it is essential to differentiate carefully, in order to obtain a sélective marked staining of elastic fibres. Counterstaining with Sirius red picrate solution makes it possible to differentiate the connective tissue.
