DESCRIPTION
N-RICKERT is an endodontic cement used as an intracanal filling material.
The powder and liquid form a mixture of viscous consistency, which is used with gutta-percha cones.
The setting of this cement is a reaction between Zinc Oxide and Eugenol, which in the presence of water forms zinc eugenolate. The resin improves mixing characteristics and delays setting time. Radiopacity is optimized by silver.
The formulation of N-RICKERT is similar to that of the cement developed by RICKERT, which was one of the first to be used and fulfills the requirements of a good endodontic cement: it has good adhesion; good penetration; adapts to the walls of the conduit (large flow in the first 24 hours); high radiopacity (silver); easy removal (with alcohol); and antibacterial action (eugenol, thymol and silver).
