This model is an example of the replacement of living animals to master skills in microsurgery. Using the model during training of scientists and animal technicians, the number of live-animals needed will be reduced drastically.
It gives the possibility of training approximately 25 different microsurgical techniques (i.e. anastomoses, cannulations, transplantations of vessels and organs).

The MD-PVC-Rat comes in a carrying case, together with a video-user-guide, several spare parts and the computer simulation software "Remote". Several parts of the model can easily be replaced, however, one can use vessels and arteries many times. Spare parts (e.g. vessels, artery's and organs) are also available. In the neck-region of the model you see Jugular vein, Carotid artery and Trachea. In the abdominal cavity you can perform cannulations (of e.g. Portal vein or Vena cava), anastomoses (e.g. end-to-end, end-to-side or side-to-side) and transplantation of organs.
