The spinit® CRP disposable disc is used with the spinit® instrument as a quantitative assay for the measurement of C-reactive protein concentration in whole blood (venous and capillary), serum and plasma samples. Clinical utility: The C-reactive protein (CRP) test is used by health practitioners to detect inflammation. In a PoC setting, the CRP test by itself does not provide a diagnostic, but it can be used together with signs and symptoms and other tests to evaluate an individual for an acute or chronic inflammatory condition or to distinguish between bacterial and viral infection. It can determine whether antibiotics are required or not and therefore help to reduce the amount of unnecessary antibiotics prescribed. The spinit® products can help you understand which type of pathogen is causing an infection so you can deliver the most effective médication to your patients and help stop resistances to unneeded drugs.
