Serum with gel contains a barrier polymer in the base of the tube. This material moves to the serum-clot interface, forming a stable separation barrier during centrifugation. Serum can be collected directly from the collection tube, eliminating the need for manual transfer to another vessel. In the primary tube and under recommended laboratory conditions, some parameters remain stable for up to 48 hours.
