Plan your functional indications with dedicated and effective workflows
Elements Cranial functional workflow is dedicated to treatment planning for indications that require the highest precision, like trigeminal neuralgia and essential tremor. This workflow, which involves several intelligent software applications, utilizes conical collimators to generate plans with steep dose gradients that preserve neurological function.
Preparing for functional planning
We’ve built automation into every step of the pre-planning workflow: distortion correction, object segmentation including the basal ganglia, fibertracking, image fusion and trajectory planning.
Correction of fused images
Elements Distortion Correction corrects patient-specific distortions by applying deformable registration exclusively to the brain, respecting the anatomical ground truth.
3D outlining of Basal Ganglia Region
Unique to Brainlab, patient-specific anatomical mapping automatically creates 3D objects including critical structures of the basal ganglia region. With Elements Segmentation, a synthetic tissue model is applied to classify brain tissues and to detect abnormalities or asymmetries. Overcoming the limitations of traditional atlas technology, tissue-based automatic segmentation results in highly individualized patient datasets for reliable extraction of relevant target structures and OARs.
Enriching images with fibertracking
By processing patient-specific diffusion tensor imaging with Elements Fibertracking, now more than ever, you are able to enrich anatomical images with detailed information about white matter structures to preserve vital functions.
