Due to this voltage, a magnetic valve in the safety element keeps open. The gas is able to flow. In case the flame of the burners extinguishes, the thermocouple cools down and the electric voltage drops off thus closing the magnetic valve automatically. The gas supply is interrupted and no unburnt gas can escape.
