NSE (Specific Neuron Enolase) is a intracellular protein that is characterized in positive cells as diffuse cytoplasm staining, mainly expressed in neuronal cells, neuroendocrine cells and neuroendocrine tumor cells when used for auxiliary diagnosis of neuroendocrine tumors. Because it can also express in smooth muscle, muscle epithelial cells, renal tube cells, lymphocytes, etc, so should pay attention to the diagnosis.
