Extended immobilisation of the thumb to the forearm for blocking all possible movements within the synovial sheaths, through which the tendons of the thumb abductors (extensor pollicis brevis and abductor pollicis longus) pass. Especially recommended for pre- and post-operative fixation of extensor pollicis longus (EPL) lesions. May be used to treat EPl lesions conservatively.
May be used for night splinting of De Quervain syndrome.

Application and adjusting
The ready to adjust Chrisofix® orthoses have to be adjusted directly on the injured/diseased body part. The rough adjustment (bending) has to be performed on a non-injured limb of similar size. Fine adjust-ments, readjustments (e.g. after soft tissue swelling is reduced) can be made without removing the orthosis.
Place the forearm into the ready to use orthosis.
Shape the orthosis to the hand with gentle pressure, and close the ring around the thumb.
Fasten the stable bandage on the wrist and the textile one on the forearm.
To remove the orthosis, it is not necessary to open the strap on the thumb; the thumb can simply be pulled out from and later shifted back into the fixation. Frequent bending and stretching of the orthosis can damage its stability; these must be restricted to the necessary minimum.
