Craniotech develops patient-specific orbital implants which allows precise reconstruction of orbital fractures and the orbital floor by producing an implant that optimally fits the anatomy of the patient. The aim of the reconstruction is to restore the shape and the original volume of the orbit, which is directly correlated to eye function.
Manufacturing & Materials:
These implants are produced in two ways:
3D printing using a medical grade titanium alloy (Ti64 – ELI)
Machining out of ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE).
In addition, a plastic anatomical model and an implant demo are supplied for preoperative planning purposes, further facilitating implant insertion and intraoperative positioning.
