GOLD HP Dry is a qualitative rapid test to detect Helicobacter pylori in gastric biopsies based on the activity of the enzyme urease. The test has been designed on a polypropylene well with a urea containing cellulose support. A sample with Helicobacter pylori will react with the urea liberating ammonia producing a shift in pH. This shift is visualised by a change in the colour of the cellulose support from yellow to purple of an indicator dye.
