The FREEWAY™ 035 Paclitaxel-eluting PTA balloon dilatation catheter is an over-the-wire (OTW) catheter which is specially designed for peripheral interventions in femoral-popliteal lesions. It is indicated for widening stenosis of de novo and restenotic lesions in the iliac, femoral, iliac-femoral, popliteal, infra-popliteal and renal arteries. This balloon is also used for post-dilatation after stent implantation in the peripheral vascular system. Proven Efficacy & Safety The use of Eurocors DEBs is an effective alternative as any stentless technology for the improvement of long-term patency and might be preferable to the long-term persistence of a foreign body. Several randomized studies proved safety and efficacy of DEB also used as a supportive addition in treatments when a stent is essential. Amorphous Coating Technology Eurocor DEBs use a durable non-crystalline bioshell coating which homogenously covers the balloon surface and protects the drug from mechanical abrasion and early wash off, resulting in a low paclitaxel blood plasma concentration. The coating composition is comprised of shellac and paclitaxel (1:1 ratio).
