THE IMPORTANCE OF MDR-TB(Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis) DIAGNOSIS
Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis(MDR-TB) is caused by mycobacterium tuberculosis that is resistant to at least isoniazid(INH) and rifampin(RIF), the first-line treatment for tuberculosis. Since second-line drugs for MDR-TB have more side effects and may result in extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR-TB), PCR testing for MDR-TB is necessary to detect resistance to these 2 major anti-tuberculosis drugs. SMARTCHEK® MDR TB Detection Kit is a real-time polymerase chain reaction assay, intended for diagnosis of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis(MDR-TB) by detecting INH and RIF resistant TB at a single PCR run.
BETTER DETECTION ASSAY FOR YOUR TIMELY AND ACCURATE DIAGNOSIS
Resistance to isoniazid is usually due to a mutation in katG or inhA and resistance to rifampin is usually due to a mutation in the rifampin resistance-determining region (RRDR) of the rpoB gene. This assay is containing specific primer pairs and probes of rpoB 1, 2, and 3 to detect RIF-resistant TB and katG, inhA to detect INH-resistant TB. This assay uses real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology and TaqMan® probe chemistry to detect target genes. Real-time amplification curves are displayed on GENECHECKER® UF-300 and UF-340 Real-time PCR System.
