The intuitive e-drive electric driving system , which can be activated directly from the console, is composed by one 5th electric power assisted wheel, which is controlled by two sensors inserted on the push handles of the foot board.
The sensors are placed under the metal surface of the handles and sense the operators's pushing force in forward and reverse direction, allowing the bed to be moved in a totally intuitive and natural way.
After activating the e-drive system, and it will be sufficient to grip the handles and apply a slight pushing force towards the direction of travel to power the 5th motorized wheel.
The bed will start to move in the pushing direction, and the e-drive system will follow any gait variation impressed by the operator through the sensitive handles.
The e-drive system will automatically slow down and stop in the space of a few centimeters, from the moment the handles are released , or if there is a force contrary to the direction of travel.
The physical overload of an operator is mainly due to the movement along paths with particularly pending climbs or descents (10%).
In cases of ramps along the way, e-drive system provides total traction of the bed by canceling the effort perceived while pushing.
On the contrary, on downhill ways, e-drive system automatically activates an engine brake, slowing down the bed while guranteeing the operator a perfect driving control.
Moving a hospital bed with a patient on it, is an heavy and tiring work.
