Class 1: (18-21 mmHg)
Mild symptoms of venous diseases such as heaviness and fatigue in the legs, combined venous and arterial insufficiency, mild varicosities without significant edema, post sclerotherapy, small varicose dilations of cutaneous veins, initial varices during pregnancy.
Class 2: (23-32 mmHg)
Moderate symptoms of venous diseases such as aching heaviness and fatigue in the legs, chronic venous insufficiency, post sclerotherapy, prophylaxis of thrombosis, moderate to severe varicosities, post phlebitic syndrome, lymphedema, stasis dermatitis due to venous insufficiency, post fracture or post surgical edema, edema from burns, varices during pregnancy, pregnant patients with previous phlebitis.
Absolute Contraindications: High grade arterial insufficiency, wet dermatosis, acute dermatitis, cutaneous infections, wearing during bed rest or confinement to bed if not prescribed by physician (except antiembolism stockings). Metabolic edema, uncontrolled congestive heart failure, intermittent claudication, ischemia.
Relative Contraindications: Sensory loss of the extremity, intolerance of compression stockings materials, advanced peripheral neuropathy ( e.g. diabetes mellitus), rheumatoid arthitis (RA).
