GORE® DUALMESH® PLUS is an advanced ePTFE biomaterial used for controlling potential operative contamination of the material. It is the first two-surface hernia repair material with antimicrobial technology. It contains two antimicrobial preservative agents, silver carbonate and chlorhexidine diacetate, that inhibits microbial colonization of, and resists initial biofilm formation on, the device for up to 14 days post-implantation. Substantial preservative activity associated with the device has been demonstrated against laboratory strains and clinical isolates of different organisms using zone of inhibition bioassays.
