Description

To remain competitive in today’s health care environment, consider using blood filtration to reduce particulate debris, fat globules, and leukocytes1 ; all of which are associated with mediating pulmonary dysfunction among your uniquely sensitive cardiac surgical patients. Salvaged blood filters are part of a total leukocyte control strategy that is cost-effective in patients undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass surgery.2 In orthopedic surgery where fat embolism syndrome may occur, using filters to lower the fat burden in salvaged blood could be beneficial. Consider one of the filters on the following page for salvaged blood reinfusion. Features & Benefits Reduce fat globules, microaggregates, and component particulate matter in salvaged blood, all of which could lead to adverse effects upon reinfusion. Designed for use with either intra- or post-operatively salvaged blood washed or unwashed. Small filter housing ensures quick priming and good blood recovery. High flow rate for rapid infusion LipiGuard® Transfusion Filter for Salvaged Blood For the filtration of up to one unit of washed or unwashed intra-operative or post-operative salvaged blood. The LipiGuard Transfusion Filter is a low-priming volume blood filter designed for the reduction of the anaphylatoxin C3a, and several potentially harmful microaggregates, leukocytes, and lipid particles. Provides 40 μm screen filtration in addition to leukocyte reduction (approximately 71%) and fat globule removal capability for a transfusable unit of wound drainage for one transfusable unit. Low residual blood hold-up volume (20 mL) ensures the highest recovery of blood component being transfused.
