Laryngeal mask in PVC tube and silicone cuff. Atraumatic cuff tip for less trauma during insertion
Supraglottic airway lma
Instruction:
Supraglottic airway lma is mixed Laryngeal Mask Airway with Silicone Cuff and PVC Tube. Laryngeal mask has an airway tube that connects to an elliptical mask with a cuff. The cuff can either be of the inflating type (achieved after insertion using a syringe of air), or self-sealing. Once inserted correctly (and the cuff inflated where relevant) the mask conforms to the anatomy with the bowl of the mask facing the space between the vocal cords. After correct insertion, the tip of the laryngeal mask sits in the throat against the muscular valve that is located at the upper portion of the esophagus.

How to secure the laryngeal mask airway?
To improve its stability and avoid mask rotation, the manufacturers recommend that the LMA tube be pressed into the palatopharyngeal arch, and that the tube outlet face the patient's feet. To keep the LMA in this position, a slight downward pressure should be exerted to keep it steady and prevent it from dislodgement.
The supraglottic airway has changed airway management for anesthesiologist and many first responders. It has been incorporated into the difficult airway management . Additionally, for a difficult airway that needs a defined intubation, the laryngeal mask airway (LMA) can act as a conduit for fiberoptic endotracheal intubation . However, the ETT might be too short to ensure that the inflated ETT cuff will lie below the vocal cords .
