The EZERTM SARS-CoV-2 NAAT (SARS-CoV-2 real-time RT-PCR Kit) is used for in vitro qualitative detection of novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 in respiratory specimens including throat swab and nasopharyngeal swab. Primer sets and FAM labeled probe are designed for specific detection of ORFlab gene of SARS-CoV-2, VIC labeled probe for N gene of SARS-CoV-2. Human RNase Pgene extracted concurrently with the test sample provides an internal control to validate nucleic extraction procedure and reagent integrity. Probe targeting human RNase P gene is labeled with CY5.
The novel coronaviruses belong to the β genus. SARS-CoV-2 is an acute respiratory infectious disease. People are generally susceptible. Currently, the patients infected by the novel coronavirus are the main source of infection; asymptomatic infected people can also be contagious. Based on the current epidemiological investigation, the incubation period is 1 to 14 days, mostly 3 to 7 days. The main manifestations include fever, fatigue and dry cough. Nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat, myalgia and diarrhea are found in a few cases.
SPECIMEN HANDLING AND STORAGE
• Acceptable Specimens: nasopharyngeal swab and throat swab.
• Collect samples in sterile tubes.
• Contamination should be avoided during collection, storage and transportation of the samples.
• All the samples collected should be considered contagious and inactivated at 56℃for 30 min.
• Specimens can be stored at 2-8℃ for up to 24 hours after collection and at -70℃ or lower for long-term preservation. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycle of the sample and make sure sample is completely thawed before RNA extraction.
