Overview
An excellent tool for showing the difference between healthy bone and bone affected by osteoporosis, this model (15 cm x 23 cm x 20 cm) can be used as a tabletop display, or it can be removed from its wooden base for closer inspection. One side of the model features a cross section of dense bone; the other illustrates porous bone. Great for explaining osteoporosis to patients and students, the model is perfect for starting discussions about the importance of calcium and vitamin D in the diet, as well as regular physical activity for bone strengthening.
Details
Literally meaning “porous bone”, osteoporosis often leads to hip fracture and other serious issues. This swivelling comparison model shows in dramatic detail just how fragile a bone can become as tissue is lost. One side of the model is solid and dense, while the reverse side illustrates the damaging effect osteoporosis has on bone tissue. Model may be removed from its base for closer viewing.
