【Intended use】
This kit is used for the qualitative detection of Enterovirus 71 (EV71) nucleic acid in pharyngeal swab samples. The main clinical symptoms after EV71 infection are: Herpes, ulcers of skin and mucous membranes in the infected patients, especially children's hands, feet, mouth, etc., most of which are accompanied by systemic symptoms such as fever, anorexia, fatigue, and mental depression. Mild infections can cause diarrhea, fever, herpes rash, aseptic meningitis, encephalitis, myocarditis, severe cases can be manifested as acute delayed paralysis, pulmonary edema or bleeding, and even more can cause death. The test object of this kit is an oropharyngeal swab sample of patients with the above symptoms.
EV71 belongs to the enterovirus genus of the small RNA virus family. Because the virus particles do not have a lipid coating, they are resistant to detergents, ether, deoxycholate, and weak acids. In addition, the virus can also resist common disinfections such as 70% ethanol and 5% cresol soap solution agents, these all determine the virus's strong field survival ability. The EV71 virus has poor resistance to high temperatures (above 50 ° C) and ultraviolet rays.
This kit is suitable for the auxiliary diagnosis of EV71 infection. The results are for clinical reference only, and the results cannot be used alone as the basis for confirming or excluding cases. The clinical diagnosis and treatment of patients should be considered in combination with their symptoms / signs, medical history, other laboratory examinations, and treatment response, etc.
