A partially absorbable prosthesis for treating inguinal hernias.
Hybridmesh® is a quadriaxial co-knitted mesh with 25% of non-absorbable polypropylene (PP) monofilament and 75% of absorbable polylactic acid (PLLA) monofilament.
The prosthesis weighs 80 g/m². The polylactic acid filaments give the mesh the right level of rigidity for quick and easy positioning.
After the polylactic acid filaments have been fully absorbed (in approximately 7-10 months), the residual polypropylene mass weighs just 20 g/m², leaving a soft, light and comfortable mesh implant.
The advantages of the semi-absorbable mesh:
it is highly manageable (easy positioning)
because of its structure, Hybridmesh® can be positioned using a sutureless technique, reducing the incidence of chronic pain
its macro-porous structure allows for optimal fibroblastic infiltration (resulting in flexible rather than rigid scar tissue)
minimal inflammatory reaction
it allows for optimal tissue integration
it retains structural stability even after partial absorption
it gives patients maximum comfort.
