HUBI CRP is an in-vitro diagnostic test based on immunochromatography. The test is required to be applied to HUBI-QUAN pro, an analyzer designed for quantitative détermination of C-Reactive Protein (CRP) in human blood specimens.
C-reactive protein (CRP) is protein found in the blood, the levels of which rise in response to inflammation (i.e. C-reactive protein is an acute-phase protein). Its physiological rôle is to bind to phosphocholine expressed on the surface of dead or dying cells (and some types of bacteria) in order to activate the complement system via the C1Q complex.
Normal concentration in healthy human serum is usually lower than 10mg/L, slightly increasing with aging. Higher levels are found in late pregnant women, mild inflammation and viral infections (10-40mg/L), active inflammation, bacterial infection (40-200mg/L), severe bacterial infections and burns (>200mg/L).
Any pathological condition associated with invasive bacterial infection, in the CRP level in the patient’ s serum.
The rise in CRP levels is rapid, and increased levels can be detected within 6~ 12 hours of the onset of the inflammatory process. The quantitative measurement of the CRP concentration has been reported to be a sensitive indicator of the efficacy of antimicrobial therapy and the course of bacterial infections, as well as an effective tool in monitoring and controlling postoperative infections.
