HUBI TESTO is one step in vitro diagnostic test based on immunochromatography. It must be used with HUBI QUAN pro and designed for quantitative détermination of Testosterone (TESTO) in human serum or plasma or whole blood.
Testosterone (17/? -Hydroxyandrost-4-en-3-one) is a steroid hormone with a 288.4 daltons synthesized primarily in Leydig cells. The largest amounts of testosterone are produced by the testes in men, while the adrenal glands account for most of the remainder. The number of Leydig cells in turn is regulated by luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle—stimulating hormone (FSH). In addition, the amount of testosterone produced by existing Leydig cells is
under the control of LH, which régulâtes the expression of 17/? -hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase.
Total levels of testosterone in the body are 264 to 916 ng/dL in men âge 19 to 39 years, while mean testosterone levels in adult men have been reported as 630 ng/dL.
Testosterone levels naturally decrease as men âges. Low testosterone associate with increased mortality in maie veterans. And can cause mash symptoms (decreased libido, mood changes, decrease in muscle mass, muscle strength and bone mass, decrease body hair, and increase fat mass).
Testosterone are bound to SHBG (Sex hormone binding globulin), bound to albumin. Generally, 65 percent of the testosterone in the blood bound to SHBG, 30~40 percent bound to albumin, and only less than 2.5 percent are free testosterone.
