Description

COLLAGEN TYPE I TAIL OF RAT Solution at 2 mg / ml or 3 mg / ml in 0.1% acetic acid. Acid extraction of collagen type I from rat tail tendons. 2. STRUCTURE AND BIOLOGICAL ROLE Collagens belong to a family of fibrillar glycoproteins constituting the connective tissue. Type I collagen is found mainly in the dermis, bones and tendons. The elementary unit of the collagen fiber is tropocollagen which is formed of 3 polypeptide chains wound around a common axis thus forming a triple helix. These tropocollagen units arranged parallel and staggered about an axis form a collagen fiber. The cohesion of the whole is ensured by links between the lysine residues and hydroxylysines, which gives the collagen strength and resistance. Packaged in a 20 ml bottle.
