Gigatorque is a rotary chair with a minicentrifugal possibility. In addition to possibilities offered by Minitorque, Gigatorque allows to run otolith tests. The patient can be moved from -5 to +5 cm from the axis of rotation. This lateral displacement allows to set the left or right otolith organ over the center of rotation. This displacement is controlled by software and electronically adjusted during the rotation of the seat. Two kind of lateral movements can be done: a linear or a sinusoidal movement. When spinning off yaw axis, centripetal acceleration stimulates differently both otolith organs and results in a perception of tilt for the patient. This reaction can be acquired by a eye torsion detection system or a subjective vertical test.
