The Open Shielding Box (OSB) is an EMI/RFI shielding enclosure (Faraday Cage) used for low-medium field open MRI installations (up to 0.4 T). It is realized with modular RF-shielding panels and offers a cost effective shielding for different end user’s needs.
The OSB allows a state-of-the-art and proven quality of the RF shielding. By using a mix of predefined standard size and custom RF panels, made of powder-coated aluminum and bolted in a rigid, self-standing, flexible to mount structure, the OSB can be adapted to all sizes of the MRI room. Fast installation time (2 days on average) and possibility of relocating the enclosure complete the functional features of the OSB.
The aluminium panels are perforated and create a “hear-through” and “see-through” environment, so eliminating patients’ sense of confinement and feeling of anxiety that may occur in traditional shielding rooms and enhancing communication between patient and operator.
Moreover, self-supporting and perforated panels do not require attachments to the parent building or dedicated ventilation-lighting systems, thus lowering the total cost of ownership of the MRI site.
