This kit is used for the qualitative detection of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) fusion protein antigens in nasopharyngeal or oropharyngeal swab specimens from neonates or children under 5 years of age [1]. RSV is a common cause of upper and lower respiratory tract infections and a major cause of bronchiolitis and pneumonia in infants and young children. RSV outbreaks regularly in the fall, winter and spring of each year. Although RSV can cause significant respiratory disease in older children and adults, it is more moderate than in infants and young children. In order to obtain effective antibacterial therapy, the rapid identification and diagnosis of RSV is particularly important. Rapid identification can reduce hospital stay, antibiotic use, and hospitalization costs [2].
