Short Description:
This kit is used for qualitative detection of group B streptococci in female vaginal cervical swab samples in vitro.
Epidemiology
This kit uses immunochromatographic technique. Group B Streptococcus (GBS or Step.B) is extracted by the sample extraction solution, then it is added to the sample well. When it flows through the binding pad, it is bound to the tracer-labeled complex. When the complex flows to the NC membrane, it reacts with the coated material of NC membrane and forms a sandwich-like complex. When the sample contains Group B streptococcus, a red test line (T line) appears on the membrane. When the sample does not contain Group B streptococcus or the bacterial concentration is lower than the LoD, the T line does not develop color. There is a quality control line (C line) on the NC membrane. No matter whether the sample contains Group B streptococcus, the C line should show a red band, which is used as the internal control for whether the chromatography process is normal and whether the kit is invalid[1-3].
