Accurate detection of the Omicron variant The ProTect™ Omivar RT-qPCR test is a nucleic acid test that identifies the Omicron variant from other SARS-CoV-2 variants, using nasopharyngeal or oropharyngeal swabs and tested on reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Known as the gold standard method, it provides high sensitivity and specificity to detect down to 15 copies of the variant.
