ALCASORB® RAPID sutures are synthetic, absorbable, sterile surgical sutures made of Polyglycolic Acid. Braided sutures are coated with coating material. The coating material of coated sutures consists of a mixture of Calcium Stearate and Polycaprolactone.
When ALCASORB® RAPID sutures are implanted into a living organism, they are absorbed by the organism and do not cause excessive tissue irritation. ALCASORB® RAPID sutures are non-antigenic and pyrogenic, only a slight tissue reaction occurs during absorption.
ALCASORB® RAPID sutures meet all the requirements defined for absorbable synthetic sutures in the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) and the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP). ALCASORB® RAPID sutures are undyed (natural, beige).
ALCASORB® RAPID sutures are available and presented as sterile, braided undyed (beige) strands in sizes USP 6/0 through USP 2 (metric sizes 0.7– 5), in a variety of lengths, from 10 cm to 150cm, with stainless steel needles of varying types and sizes or without needles.
Sutures are available in packages of one, two and three dozen.
