ALCALACTONE® sutures are synthetic, absorbable, sterile surgical sutures composed of a copolymer synthesized from 75% Polyglycolic Acid and 25% Caprolactone. When ALCALACTONE® sutures are implanted into a living organism, they are absorbed by the organism and do not cause excessive tissue irritation. ALCALACTONE® sutures are non-antigenic and pyrogenic, only mild tissue reaction occurs during absorption.
ALCALACTONE® sutures meet all requirements defined for absorbable synthetic sutures in the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) and the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP).
To facilitate the operation, ALCALACTONE® sutures are painted with FDA-approved D&C purple No:2. ALCALACTONE® sutures are produced as sterile, monofilament, purple and beige (undyed) colored, USP 6/0 – USP 2 (metric 0.7-5), in various lengths from 10 cm to 150 cm, with or without stainless steel needles..
Sutures are available in packs of one, two and three dozen.
