ALCASILK® sutures are non-absorbable sterile surgical threads obtained from fibroin organic proteins. These organic proteins are obtained from the domesticated silkworm Bombyx mori of the Bombycidae family. Braided ALCASILK® sutures have been processed to remove the oil and viscous structures naturally present in the structure of silk threads. ALCASILK® surgical sutures are black and coated with wax (KAHLWAX 1540).
ALCASILK® sutures meet all the requirements specified in the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) and the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) for non-absorbable surgical sutures.
ALCASILK® sutures are produced as sterile, braided, (metric 0.7-5), in various lengths from 10 cm to 150 cm, with or without a stainless steel needle.
Sutures are available in packs of one, two and three dozen.
