What is Colposcopy?
Colposcopy is a check of the cervix using a bright light and colposcope. This is a large magnifying glass that helps doctor or nurse look closely at the surface of cervix. The colposcope sits on the outside of vagina and does not go inside. It can be linked up to a computer screen to see the images more clearly. The test is usually done at a colposcopy clinic in the gynaecology department of a hospital.
