Within the Waste Management System, air enters the work opening of the unit and passes over the disposal ports, capturing particulate generated by emptying cages. The air is then pulled through a two-stage pre-filter system, passes through the third stage HEPA filter (99.99% efficient to 0.3 micron particles) and is returned into the room at the rear base of the unit. Bedding and animal waste pass through funnel-shaped ports where it is channeled into dual plastic lined bags or polyvinyl-lined burn boxes. The bags or boxes can be sealed in the unit before removal from the system.
Access is provided within the hood for sealing containers before removal. This feature provides reduced exposure of personnel to allergens.
