The Swedish company Avidicare presents a new approach to ensuring cleanliness in critical areas. Avidicare is committed to Zero Infections and is committed to eradicating SSI (Surgical Site Infections) with hospital staff and clean technology partners.
Today, there are more than 130 Opragon systems installed in leading academic hospitals and specialist clinics in Europe and the United States, with another 50 planned and will be installed this year. This has enabled extensive research into the benefits of the Opragon system, including ultra-clean operating rooms, low energy consumption, increased installation flexibility and improved working conditions.
Avidicare has registered six patents, is ISO 9001, ISO 14001 certified. The main office is located in Medicon Village in Lund, Sweden.
Less bacteria in the air means fewer infections
The Opragon OR ventilation system has a proven ability to reduce airborne bacteria. Fewer bacteria in the operating room air results in a reduced risk of SSI. Sir John Charnley and Lidwell conducted major scientific studies of surgical site infections (SSI). They concluded that fewer bacteria in the operating room air reduced the incidence of SSI during orthopedic surgery, from 8% to less than 1%.
Ultra-clean air in operating rooms with less energy consumption
Opragon achieves ultra-clean conditions using 30% less energy than standard laminar airflow systems (the Journal of Hospital Infection (Oct 2017). Opragon's operating room ventilation system actively removes bacteria-carrying particles before they can spread into the room and contaminate wound or sterile instruments. This achieves less than 5 CFU/m³ in the surgical work area
