The base of the bed is made of hygienic ABS plastic with breathing holes. The foam mattress retains its qualities better on this kind of base than on a traditional mesh base. The base is easy to remove for cleaning and disinfecting. The bed ends are made of solid wood, giving a longer life than normal beds.
