Explorer 23 by MA Dental is also known as “Shepherd’s hook”. It is a single-ended instrument. It is used for detecting tooth decay at tooth enamel. It is commonly used in dental armamentarium. Dental explorers detect the pinhole areas of tooth where cavity can form and also picks up debris in between teeth and gum.
It is a premium instrument that is titanium coated and has a 9.5 mm handle.
For furcation’s, restorations,
exploring and caries of pockets and diagnosing calculus. Explorers are commonly used for oral examination. They explore areas between the teeth that are hard to reach to remove foreign objects or detecting a subgingival calculus.
They are also used for:
- Areas in the vicinity of contact surfaces
- distal surfaces
- Probing clogged surface grooves
- Back Action blade and for extended lower shank
- Probing under the tooth surfaces
- Detecting and probing subgingival calculus
