Description

Optimized to block rheumatoid factor and therefore suitable when studying samples from patients with autoimmune disease. Intended use This ELISA PathRF kit is intended for the quantification of human IFN-γ in serum and plasma containing rheumatoid factor (RF). For research use only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. ELISA PathRF kits ELISA PathRF kits are designed to eliminate potential interference from RF and heterophilic antibodies. The combination of a recombinant detection mAb and RF-block diluent prevents RF and heterophilic antibodies from cross-linking the assay antibodies, effectively reducing the risk of false-positive signal. RF and heterophilic antibodies can be found at high concentrations in serum and plasma from individuals with autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. The kit has been validated with RF-containing plasma. Specificity - This kit is based on a matched pair of mAbs specific for human IFN-γ. Sensitivity - 0.6 pg/ml The lowest concentration that can be detected, but not necessarily quantified with precision and accuracy. This was determined by adding 4 standard deviations to the mean OD of background wells. Analyte description Interferon-γ (IFN-γ) is the only type II interferon. This proinflammatory cytokine is secreted by activated T cells and NK cells. It activates macrophages and endothelial cells and regulates immune responses by affecting APCs, T cells, and B cells. Production of IFN-γ by helper T cells and cytotoxic T cells is a hallmark of the Th1-type phenotype. Thus, high-level production of IFN-γ is typically associated with effective host defense against intracellular pathogens.
