In-vitro superfusion system (Release technique)
The in-vitro superfusion release technique enables the collection of neurotransmitters released from the nerve tissues during electrical or chemical stimulation.
The complete perfusion system includes the electric stimulator, the thermostat, carbogen (95% O2, 5%CO2) gas line, buffer reservoire and the perfusion chambers. Electrical field stimulation of the merve slice is performed by the platinum electrodes built into the chamber, while chemical stimulation can be achieved by substances dissolved in perfusion fluid, or these can also directly be delivered to the perfusion chamber.
The system can also be used for radioactive-labelling of nerve tissues, followed by release and collection of neurotransmitters for quantitative measurement.
