CBM stainless steel containers can be considered to be the best choice for a modern sterilization department.
The material used is AISI304, an austenitic stainless steel with exceptional mechanical resistance and highly resistant to corrosion. Stainless steel containers are naturally protected against the aggression of chemical components without any need for further surface treatment. Consequently, scratches and dents do not impair the resistance to corrosion, assuring a prolonged and better working life. AISI304 possesses mechanical properties that are far superior to aluminium, and this allows the manufacture of a container with a much thinner wall. It is, therefore, a mistake to suppose that a container in steel is heavier than one made from aluminium.
Comparing two containers manufactured in both these materials and fi lled with the same quantity of product it is found that the difference in weight is less than 4%.
Furthermore, the transmission of heat is identical. Considering the thickness of the wall of a steel container and of an aluminium container, it can be shown that each offers the same resistance to heat transmission towards the load being sterilized.
