The Estradiol Double Antibody RIA Kit is intended for the measurement of the unconjugated form of E2 (17B-Estradiol) in a sample. In the ovulating woman, circulating E2 originates predominantly from cohorts of maturing follicles and ultimately from a single follicle recruited for ovulation and the corpus luteum it forms. E2 concentrations are highly variable depending on the phase of the menstrual cycle. In the postmenopausal woman, E2 originates from extraglandular conversion of androgens and circulates in low, noncyclic concentrations. In prepubertal children and in the male, circulating E2 concentrations are low and non-cyclic.
