Tubulins are the major protein components of cytoplasmic microtubules. β-tubulin is regarded as a “house keeping” protein which is generally not altered much in expression as a result of experimental manipulations. As a result antibodies to β-tubulin are widely used as loading controls in western blotting experiments as a standard by which the levels of other proteins may be measured. The antibody is an ideal western blotting standard as it stains a single ~50kDa band on western blots and also produces beautiful IF images of cells in tissue culture. It will also work well in ICC and IHC. Mouse select image at left for larger view.
