Biological indicators are a meant for the routine monitoring of the effectiveness of the sterilization. Each biological indicator contains a predetermined population of Geobacillus Stearothermophilus spores, a type of bacterial spore which is safe to humans and able to resist high temperatures and that an efficient steam sterilization kills.
